The Ultimate Thursday of the Twelve Days of Piety is All Corners Day, the Celebration of the Pious Outsiders, when Reform Unitarians honor the virtuous in other nations and other faith communities. Bahá’ulláh, founder of Bahá’ísm, was born on the 12th Day of Piety, and it is quite appropriate to celebrate the ecumenical spirit of the religion he founded.
Specifically to American Unitarian Reform: Mexico’s Juana Inés de la Cruz (nun, poet, and women’s rights advocate) and Canada’s Jeanne Mance (nun, nurse, and founder of Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal) were both born on the 12th Day of Piety. This is also the celebration of the birthday of American Unitarian theologian James Luther Adams.
